Abstract: Using competitions in our lessons can create an environment that promotes critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork skills. It helps enhance creativity and explore new ideas while providing an exciting and engaging way to learn, which motivates students to participate actively in the learning process. Competitions in the classroom directly contribute to preparing students for the future by cultivating skills that are essential in the modern world. These skills include collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking. Students can develop their problem-solving skills, learn to work under pressure, and improve their time management skills.

Competitions can also help create a sense of community and camaraderie for students and teachers. We can align competition tasks with curriculum goals and attainment by designing tasks that are linked to specific topics or skills. This approach ensures that students are learning what is expected of them while also providing an opportunity to test their knowledge in a fun and engaging way. Creating these tasks can also be fun for teachers as they work together and share best practices, which can lead to new ideas in their approach to teaching. Join this session to learn about how to effectively utilise competitions in your lessons.
