Presentation: From Planning to Practice: A Case Study on Collaborative Teaching in a Bilingual Learning Community - Using “Dinosaur” Topic as an Example

Language of presentation: English (without simultaneous interpretation)

School: YCIS Chongqing

The focus of our presentation would be sharing a specific case study that highlights successful collaborative teaching practices within a Bilingual Learning Community. It would cover various aspects, such as the planning process, implementation strategies, challenges faced, and lessons learned.

The objectives of this presentation are:

1. Sharing best practices for collaborative teaching and planning within the BLC framework.

2. Highlighting the importance of effective communication, open-mindedness, and shared decision-making in successful collaborative teaching and planning.

3. Demonstrating how collaboration can lead to improved student outcomes and increased teacher fulfillment.

4. Encouraging participants to reflect on their own experiences and identify ways to apply the lessons learned from the case study in their own teaching practice.

We feel this presentation would benefit teachers who want to build a positive dynamic within their team. Considering the strong relationship that China is building with other countries, we think preparing our students to become global citizens with bilingual and cross-cultural competence will benefit them in the future.

As teachers at YCYW we feel that the collaborative teaching and planning is beneficial for both students and teachers, although the process can be challenging or frustrating, the rewards are tangible and long-lasting.
