Abstract: Through this workshop, you will learn the foundations of Universal Design for Learning(UDL) framework and how it works. UDL guidelines offer concrete suggestions that could be used in any discipline. To be specific, through the three principles of Engagement, Representation, Action & Expression, curriculum designers(teachers) have tools to spark curiosity of learners, help learners sustain efforts, build self-regulation, communicate and construct meaning, and express learning outcomes in flexible ways. UDL design process can help address problem of practice in teaching and learning, and an action plan is provided to further discuss how to use the checkpoints under each UDL principle.
