Abstract: The presentation will focus on supporting staff to recognise traits of children who are neuro-atypical, particularly Autism Spectrum Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. It will break down stereotypes, particularly gender bias, in both conditions, help teachers and staff recognise the difficulties these children can face in all areas of school life and how we can better support them in our learning and wider communities.
Key objectives: - To know traits of ASD and ADHD and how they can present differently in different genders.
- To recognise and understand the difficulties that children with ASD and ADHD may face in school.
- To know some effective strategies for integrating those children effectively into our learning and wider school communities.
