Workshop: What Can I Do Differently? Supporting All Children to Achieve Through Differentiation.
Language of presentation: English (without simultaneous interpretation)
School: YCIS Shanghai Puxi
Abstract: During this presentation we will look at what is differentiation and how we can differentiate more within our classes and not feel totally overwhelmed. Learning cannot be the sole responsibility of LS and EAL teachers, differentiating for the needs of children within the class setting promotes learning and feelings of success everyday not just within pull out groups and in class push in sessions. A school culture of differentiation promotes learning and teacher satisfaction.
We will look at how to identify the needs within your class, set modified objectives to meet needs and to promote learning by using modifications and accommodations for children with LS needs and also children with gaps.
We will touch on some BLC strategies that are useful for developing vocabulary and comprehension.
