Abstract: In 2022 YWIES TX decided to stage a musical for the whole school. Even though this is a small school, this undertaking would eventually involve students from IEK2 all the way to grade 13. How did we do it? What can we learn? This presentation will share the story of our wild ride from concept, through development and finally to completion. It will include:
1. Strategies for activating BLC.
2. Successfully teaching and learning across the curriculum.
3. Creating student centred work with high stakes learning tasks.
4. Being agile in the face of continuous crisis and shifting ground.
5. Celebrating a community spirit.
while you may not be considering attempting a task of this scale, there are certainly learnings which may be applied on a much smaller scale in your particular setting.
