Abstract: Using sign language in the classroom as a form of inclusive learning and a means of decreasing noise and stress. Sign language helps students communicate, including those hard of hearing, EAL, and with selective mutism. High noise levels have been found to increase teacher stress and decrease student comprehension. The objective of using different forms of sign language is to increase student learning and improve teacher quality of life. Using sign language saves precious minutes throughout the day, creating more opportunities for relationship building and social emotional learning.
