Abstract: This session involves using the latest research on cognitive and learning science to understand how the brain best learns and how learning might be optimised for students in different scenarios. The topic will include discussion around diffuse and focused brain modes and the practical strategies that teachers can share with students to drive smart learning and approaches to assessment. Most importantly, we explore what exponential learning means and how it is different to more linear approaches.

Through the workshop, we will work with practical strategies and explore how these might be adapted to different classroom environments and build trusting relationships. Participants will work in small groups on designing effective learning experiences based around skills from the Learner Portrait/Profile and cognitive science. Bring your ideas and/or plans for upcoming units.
