Abstract: YCIS-BJ began building bilingual learning communities in 2015. Over these six years, we have continued to develop and enhance our model. As with most schools, our student body demographics have evolved over the years. Embracing this change, one of our main development goals is language support structures. In this session, we will review the journey of the development of our bilingual learning communities, particularly with language supports and co-teaching models in mind. Those that attend this session will leave with some practical suggestions for creating meaningful language support systems based on research and data that you could tailor to your own unique contexts.
