Abstract: This workshop links to the 12 Values, showcasing Value 6 - the emergent curriculum and the ways in which teachers scaffolded young children’s learning and development through their interest in robots. Children’s voices were heard throughout a range of inquiry-based activities centred around robots. Their ideas were listened to and acted upon. The teaching team worked together to support children in both languages, as well as supporting children individually. The objectives of this webinar are to: 1. Show how teachers developed inquiry-based learning in an emergent curriculum.  2. Highlight the use of technology in ECE.  3. Link the YCIS 12 values to teachers' work undertaken in the classroom.  In K3 at YCIS Pudong, there was a developing interest in robots originating from children’s self-initiated independent drawing and painting. Teachers noticed the children’s interest and asked children what they knew about robots, and what they wanted to learn.  As a co-teaching team they thought of ways they could build on this emergent interest to support children’s learning and development. They asked outside agencies to support them and provide workshops and other learning opportunities – allowing teachers to draw from the wider community.  Teachers also identified opportunities to work with specialist teachers within the school. This enhanced the children’s understanding and knowledge of other parts of our school, as well as building on their interest in robots. Additionally, the school’s Artist-in-Residence supported them with art activities based around robots.  Teachers were able to include parents in their learning community, particularly in a visit to Shanghai Science and Technology Museum.
